From Candy Bars to Canvas: The Art of Laura Benjamin
Razor Blades are my paint brush and candy wrappers are my paints. My technique is to utilize cut candy wrappers on canvas to give representational form, color, light and movement to my images. Scale is an important element in that it conveys the exaggerated importance of my subject. My choice of medium has enhanced the humor and whimsy that is so integral a part of my work. I attempt to charge my subject with a vibrancy and excitement that I find essential to the joy of life.
